1961 Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider (1961)

Launched in 1958, the Alfa Romeo 2000 had a spectacular convertible body designed by the famous firm of coachbuilders Touring of Milan. The mechanics were befitting of such an automobile, having a twin camshaft engine with a compression ratio of 8.5:1, breathing through twin Weber 40DCOE carburettors, producing 115BHP at 5700RPM, delivering a top speed of 110MPH.

This particular car was imported directly to Greece when new and lived there for most of its life. During that time it has always been well maintained, the car has FIA papers as it has been used for light historic rallying and events.

In recent times the car has resided in the UK and has been repainted to a high standard in a beautiful shade of ‘Blue Sera’, more often seen on Ferraris of the era, and together with its maroon leather trim the car looks spectacular. Equally at home parked in the paddock at Le Mans or on the quay at St. Tropez      – La Dolce Vita !

This vehicle is due to be auctioned at the Coys Legende et Passion sale in Monaco on 9th May 2014. Please call 020 8614 7888 for any enquiries.
