1954 Aston Martin DB2/4 Mark I (1954)

A copy of the original build sheet/delivery note for this car shows that the car was delivered through Aston Martin dealers, Brooklands to its first owner, a Mr Bannister of Tulse Hill.  The original registration number issued is still on the car – PGF 3 - restored to the car by its current owner.  There is a Duplicate Folding Log Book – effectively a continuation of the original, that notes movements with the car in the 1070’s before Swansea’s computerisation of records.

The colour of the car had been changed in the intervening years to Maroon and the owner in 1972 was Leslie Lawrence of Albrighton in Shropshire. By 1974 it was in the hands of Hazel Williams of Staffordshire after a brief sojourn in with a David Preece of Newport in Shropshire.

In 1976, the car returned to Staffordshire when there was another change to Paul Brown but then in 1978, it moved North to the Isle of Axholme in South Yorkshire and the brief stewardship of Ian Harris. In the next years, the car went through two more keepers  the second of whom rejoiced in the name Madam Elizabeth of Sheffield Ltd who sold the car to a Dennis Smith of Newark.  He sold it in turn to the owner of a classic car dealer, Classic Car Company of Keswick Road, London SW15.  There is remained until sold in 1992 to Jeff Leeks, an Aston enthusiast who took the car to Aston Martin and Lagonda Club events over the next few years before selling it to Chris Willoughby of Kent from where it was bought by the current owner, en engineer with BMW Mini in Oxford.

Since buying the car, the current owner has undertaken a painstaking restoration of the car over a number of years.  That restoration has been to the highest of standards delivering a magnificent end result.

Without any fear of contradiction, this is the finest Feltham Aston Martin we have had the privilege to represent.  We have the unusual situation where an owner has put outstanding professional skills into his hobby and produced a car that is a reflection of his passion for engineering, the precision of that engineering and the self confessed perfectionism of his work – from whichever angle you view the car, you see that perfection.

Quite simply, the best.
