Stunning Ferrari 250 Testarossa (1963) POA
Shiltech performance cars Ltd
- Location: Leicestershire, United Kingdom
01509210630
Description
This stunning recreation is based on a Ferrari 250 GTE chassis with Ferrari 250 engine. Definately one to be seen in person, as pictures dont do justice to the presence this car has in the flesh. The Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa is considered by many as one of the most attractive sports racing cars Ferrari ever built. This well known 250 TRC started life as a 250 GTE 2+2, registration number XCH 555, and was re-bodied in aluminum as a TR road car in the early 1980s by R M Wilson Engineering of Leicester for a Mr Derek Welford of York. The inspiration for the car was taken from Count Donhoff's 1957 500 TRC - a 4 cylinder car of which the chassis number is 0706. Ref: FERRARI by Hans Tanner p357. Donhoff's car being two chassis numbers away from the second 250 V12 works prototype 0704. Ref: FERRARI by Hans Tanner p367 and FERRARI Testa Rossa V12 by Finn p241.
The 250 3-litre V12 Ferrari engine has 6 40DCN Weber carburettors and now runs on unleaded petrol. The engine and gearbox have both benefited from a rebuild by Shiltech. It has a bespoke limited slip differential and runs on 16” Borrani wheels. The TR is a very exciting and rewarding car to drive, not unlike a Maserati 250F.
The gearbox is standard GTE without the overdrive unit and utilises a modified GTE propshaft. A chromed Ferrari style gate with reverse lock-out has been added. The rear axle is GTE with a bespoke limited slip differential (LSD) and up-dated taper bearings and lip seals. Location of the axle is by trailing arms, watts linkage and coil springs over telescopic Koni dampers. The front wheels are 5"x16" polished aluminium Borrani rims. The rear wheels are 5.5"x16" polished aluminium Borrani. All wheels are fitted with Michelin 16"x600 Pilote race tyres. The spokes are stainless steel and the knock-ons for the wheels are made from billet stainless steel. All four wheels have a chrome hub.
The chassis is original GTE modified to suit with a bespoke all aluminium body, boot, bonnet and doors. The headlight covers and windscreen are also bespoke.
Instruments are modified GTE with remodeled faces, glass and bezels.
The car has its own website detailing its history, please visit www.ferrari250.com for more in depth information.
The car is currently undergoing preparation, more details will be added soon (note: pictures are pre preparation.
