Description
1998 FERRARI 550 MARANELLO R714 ENF £44,950
Introduced in 1996, the 550 was an upmarket front-engined V12 coupe of the kind not seen since the 365 GTB/4 Daytona that ceased production in 1973.The 550 uses a transaxle layout, with the 6-speed manual gearbox located at the back, in-line with the driven wheels.
The 550 features a luxurious and roomy interior. The boot is tall and wide and can accept a full set of golf clubs or standard overnight bags.
The Ferrari 550 Maranello is an outstandingly good car, excellent build quality throughout, beautiful subtle looks, a fantastic engine and a great seating position. A wonderful drive whether you drive for 30 or 300 miles, the engine is very flexible with a constant linear power delivery that just gets better and better the higher up the rev range you travel. Being front engined and rear wheel drive this car has fantastic handling and a clear break away which is easy to control. When driven hard and well the 550 Maranello is a very rewarding and impressive piece of machinery to own and drive.
These very capable GT cars are now coming of age and becoming very popular which is evident by the strong values they are currently achieving. It is likely that prices will remain firm and even increase over the coming years making the 550 a candidate worthy of the phrase ‘Modern Day Classic’.
First registered on January 1st 1998 R714 ENF is finished in the popular combination of Argento Nurburgring with contrasting Nero Leather. One of the few negative observations regarding the 550 is the quiet nature of the exhaust note, that has been addressed here with the fitting of Larini Sports Exhaust back boxes allowing one to hear the intoxicating howl of the V12 engine when accelerating hard.
The original leather wallet book pack is present along with the fully stamped up original service book.
The current mileage stands at 50,022. Having had a small fortune spent on it over the years R714 ENF is presented in quite remarkable mechanical order and drives exactly as it should. Bodywork and interior are also in excellent order.
