Outstanding Ford escort RS2000.. concourse condition (1979) POA
- Location: County Antrim, United Kingdom
It can only really be described as close to concourse condition inside and out, and it is clear that this has been lovingly cherished throughout it's lifetime.
The signal yellow paintwork is simply spectacular. It's finish boasts a deep glossy shine, and looks sharp and bright throughout, with the only interruption being it's period matt black, factory coach-line twin stripe on either side. Standing just 2 feet away this car looks impressive and new.
Within it's interior you will find a period cabin that equally is like new. The seats have been re-trimmed in period cloth, with inky black vinyl trim, which are fully supportive and look like they have just been fitted from the factory. The carpets are all fresh underfoot, which boast a wonderful factory sparkle and against the signal yellow paintwork the contrast is fantastic. All the interior trimmings are also in excellent health, free from the signs of abuse or neglect, and all come together to create a cabin that looks sharp, and feels, and smells like it did whenever it left the factory.
On the exterior this car really sells itself. Peer underneath, and you will find a finish that is better than what you would have expected to see whenever the car originally left the factory. The underside floor finish is like new, with each individual component painted and finished to a high standard. Nothing has been left out, leaving a spectacular finish that is rare, and one difficult to repeat. Underneath the bonnet, the same standard continues. Here, the finish is also better than new, with the signal yellow paintwork boasting a deep generous shine, that even follows to it's individual components and engine. Very few new cars produced today would even have this finish, let alone coming from a car from this period, it's just that special.
Pop open the boot lid, and once again you will find a period finish that is like new. The first thing you notice whenever you open the boot-lid is it's immaculate petrol tank, and the carpet that looks crisp and sharp. The original coloured paintwork, signal yellow also appears fresh in here, and as a contrast against it's carpet looks sharp and smart within. Wonderful condition.
The wheels and tyres are also like new, and finished in original specification with diamond cut and grey paint finish. Many Rs alloys have been painted in numerous colours, but it's a fresh outlook to see one that has been finished to it's original standard.
In relation to it's original condition, on closer investigation it appears to have nearly all of it's original panels with the signs of the factory spot welds throughout. It also has it's original engine, T9 gearbox and rear axel / differential, with the clocks showing 22k.
Everything about this car is special, and I really think you will struggle to find one finished to this standard as a complete car. We think there will only be a small handful left within the UK finished to this standard, especially whenever you consider the costs of buying a stock Rs 2000, and bringing it to this car's condition in it's completion.
