A Graceful and Chic Jaguar XJC 4.2 Series 2 Presented in Impeccable Order. (1978)

A graceful and chic Jaguar XJC 4.2 Series 2 presented in impeccable order.

Chrome radiator grille, wrap-round chrome bumper, growler radiator badge, grained vinyl roof, burst proof door locks, power assisted steering, hand matched walnut facia, individual armrests, rear on/off and directional ventilation controls, individual front ashtrays, cigar lighter, push-push switches, map reading lamp, six gauge instrument cluster, front and rear electric windows, lockable glove box with vanity mirror, boot interior light.  Optional extras; rear seat belts, stainless steel Jaguar sill plates.

This beautifully elegant Jaguar is finished in stunning Jaguar Dark Blue.  The graceful lines of this pillarless coupe are accentuated by the deep glossy and smooth uniform finish to the paintwork.  The beautifully straight bodywork is free from corrosion and the excellent panel fit helps to set this example aside from the usual offerings.  Only a tiny ding to driver’s door and miniscule faint paint blemishes to the nearside rear arch and passenger door top are worthy of mention.  The wrap-round chromium plated bumpers, imposing front grille and leaping Jaguar ornament along with the further extensive chromework simply gleam and compliment the paint finish magnificently.  The black grained vinyl roof is perfect.  The engine bay, wheel arches and under body are spotlessly clean and pose as a wonderful testament to the fastidious and cherished ownership.  An individual, imposing and sophisticated example of Jaguar wonderment.
A sumptuous, luxurious and spotlessly clean Biscuit leather interior is complemented by hand matched walnut facia and is simply exquisite.  All occupants can relax in the wide contoured seats and the matching deep pile carpets laid over special sound absorbing materials offer a spacious, quiet and renewed pleasure in driving.  All functions and controls are fully operational and beautifully preserved aiding the wonderful driving experience and serene atmosphere.  True automotive indulgence.

The exceptional in-line six cylinder well proven XK 4.2 litre engine produces 245bhp and offers effortless reserves of performance.  A full and expensive stainless exhaust system has been fitted giving wonderful exhaust note on full throttle.  A discreet and accepted mechanical improvement includes a manual choke conversion.  The Borg-Warner 3-speed automatic model 65 transmission is beautifully matched to the XK engine giving the perfect driving combination.

The chrome faced 15inch steel wheels have chrome Jaguar hub-caps with growler badges and are standard fitments finishing the striking exterior impact of the vehicle.  Four Pirelli P4000 205/70 R15 tyres have masses of tread remaining.  The matching spare wheel and original jack are housed correctly underneath the boot floor.  Servo-assisted disc brakes all-round with ventilated discs at the front and separate hydraulic circuits offer incredible stopping power.  Umbrella handbrake system holds the car.

Registered new on 1st March 1978 and supplied by Jaguar Main Dealers Henlys Ltd of Central London, this beautiful example has enjoyed a cherished and cosseted existence and covered just 71,865 miles from new.  A complete professional restoration throughout 2005/06 was commissioned by the previous keeper Mr Seggie to reputable Mr M J Dearing of Classic Vehicle Restoration Specialist in Lincolnshire.  A disc containing photographs taken throughout the stages of the restoration offer an insight to the quality and extent of the work undertaken.  On the passing of Mr Seggie in 2013, his wife returned the vehicle to the restorer to undertake service and maintenance work, evidenced by an invoice for £1,092 dated June 2013.  The history file consists of all original handbooks, guides and dealership literature housed in the dark green A5 folder as well as many previous MOT certificates to help substantiate the mileage.

Now being offered on the market due to little use, the vehicle presents itself as a stunning but useable show car with mechanical piece of mind allowing the next lucky owner to concentrate purely on classic motoring enjoyment!
