JAGUAR XK120 FHC 1952 (1952) £74,950
Hofmanns
- Location: Henley on Thames
01491848800
Description
The XK120 debuted at the 1948 Motorshow. William Lyons took a shortened Jaguar MKV chassis and coupled this with a sleek, two seater body. The 120 was initially launched with an aluminium body. The car quickly gained great acclaim from the motoring press and achieved the accolade of fastest production road car.
As production began to catch up with demand, Jaguar introduced a closed version of the XK120 in 1951. The fixed Head Coupe not only had a metal roof but was more luxuriously appointed. Indeed, the interior was more akin to that of the saloons, which had retained that pre-war air of opulence and fine craftsmanship that has been a hallmark of Jaguars to the present day.
The 1952 XK120 FHC offered here at Hofmann’s was rebuilt around six years ago. The impressive condition of this vehicle is most evident in the near perfect shut lines all around the car. It was brought into the country in 1995 from the US and has been improved with the addition of a 3.8 litre, triple-carb motor, a new steering setup, four-pot Cooper Craft front brakes, 5 speed gearbox and Kenlow cooling fan. The beauty of these enhancements are that they offer a modern driving experience whilst still retaining the cars period appearance.
Finished in Sage Green with Dark Tan unmarked leather, this near perfect example offers period lights and bright work, Monza style fuel filler cap, period Motorolla radio, stainless exhaust system and wire knock-on wheels with radial tyres.
As with all our vehicles the car will go through a comprehensive presales inspection by one of our Jaguar experienced engineers.
