Classic Chrome Ltd
- Location: Great London, United Kingdom
0044(0)2088768171
Description
On its release in 1961, Enzo Ferrari called the 'E' Type "The most beautiful car ever made" and he was right!
The Series 1 was introduced initially for export only in March 1961 and the domestic market launch came four months later in July 1961.
This fabulous Series 1 3.8 Roadster has just arrived at our showrooms after an extensive restoration to near Concours Condition!
According to the Jaguar 'Heritage' Certificate this car was built in Coventry on the 10th January 1964 and was sent to Jaguar dealer M & A Kooheji in Bahrein, Persian Gulf and supplied to its first owner a Mr R E Legenger in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. He took the car back with him to the USA and sold it a Mr John W Cripe of Syracuse, Indiana in March 1968. It remained in Mr Cripe's ownership until he sadly passed away 1998, but it remained in his Estate until being sold by his wife to a Mr George W Skyrm of British-Italian-German Auto Parts in Goshen, Indiana on 12th August 2001. The mileage when sold was 35,500 and was declared as genuine from new on all documentation!
The car was stored for 2 years and then sold to a company here in the UK and imported in January 2005.
Restoration of this totally rust-free and 'matching numbers' car commenced in 2009 and this included a conversion to RHD. No panels required replacement during the restoration except for a new Series 1 bonnet and it is finished in its original colour scheme of Carmen Red with Black trim and a Black Soft Top.
It has its original 3.8 XK Engine and 4 Speed 'Moss' Gearbox, new Suspension, fully re-trimmed interior including its original bucket Seats, new Glass, new sealing rubbers, all new chrome-work, new exterior fittings and light units, new Black Mohair Soft Top, brand new Chrome Wire Wheels with new Vredestein Tyres and Chrome Spinners and the bodywork has been repainted to an exceptionally high standard.
This is a 3 Owner car and it has only covered a genuine 35,603 miles from new!
We have just finished preparing the car for our showrooms and upon sale it will be fully serviced, MOT'd and UK registered.
This is a beautiful car in every way and it really must be seen and driven to be fully appreciated.
