LOTUS ELITE 1979 (1979)

Owned this Lotus since Sept 2011 and have reluctantly decided to sell it to fund a kit car project (building a Gardner Douglas T70). Enthusiast maintained regardless of cost. A rare car in original condition with only around 200 left, of which only around 60 are taxed. It’s an entirely original car, with 55,275 miles on it, original paint, original interior (apart from the headlining being redone professionally). Has some sensible upgrades: upgraded three-core rad with twin fans, electronic ignition and fully electronic fuel pump (in original housing). It's the Series 1 which is much purer in design and realises Oliver Winterbottom's styling more closely (unlike the watered-down Excel!). Top of the Lotus range at the time. I bought it as it was the best one I could find and was a 501 (ie no rubbish power steering, feeble air-con or terrible 3-speed auto – less is more on these cars!). Sold with 12 months MoT, oil and filter change, plus new cambelt.
