MERCEDES 280 SL PAGODA SPORTS - LHD (1970) £40,995
- Location: Great London, United Kingdom
Delivered new to its first owner in Los Angeles, California in September 1970, this beautiful 1971 Model Year 'Pagoda' - Chassis No: 11304412019789 is one of only 984 made and is finished in Tobacco Brown with Cognac Leather upholstery and Fawn carpets, Body coloured Hard Top and a Brown Mohair Soft Top. It has only had 2 owners from new and has all its original Mercedes Benz paperwork including Build Record/Data Cards, Handbooks, extensive Service Records/invoices, Registration papers and its original sets of Keys.
It was sold by the first owner to the current owner (his friend in LA) in 1985 and the mileage at the time was 134,600, although he had the Engine completely rebuilt a couple of years earlier @ 125,000 miles.
The car was completely stripped and repainted and all the Chrome was removed and re-plated in 1985 but was little used afterwards and was put it into storage in Los Angeles when he moved to the UK in 1988.
From 1985 until bringing it to the UK in 2004, he had only covered 3,000 miles in the car and when it was registered and MOT'd here in January 2005 the mileage from new was 137,988 miles.
Since then the car has been serviced, MOT'd and maintained every year by Mercedes specialist 'TM Motors' in West Molesey, Surrey and they have also fitted new Brake Calipers, a new Starter Motor, Starter Ring Gear, a Reconditioned Auto Gearbox and Torque Converter. It has also had a new Brown Mohair Soft Top, new Seat Belts, new Carpet set, a new Mercedes Benz Chrome Fuel cap (expensive) and new Sun Visors.
The car has now covered a total of 139,850 miles from new and is a really beautiful example that is of course completely rust free having spent the majority of its life in California and 7 years in storage in LA.
The car has lots of its original patina including its lovely Cognac leather Seats, dash fittings and wood trimming, period 'Becker' Stereo, Air Conditioning (that works), a new Brown mohair Soft Top, body coloured Hard Top, Power Steering, rebuilt 2799cc Fi Engine, 4 Speed Automatic Transmission, perfect Chrome-work, period number plates and its original Steel Wheels with full-face Chrome trims and a Stainless Steel Exhaust.
This car is in superb condition and has just been repainted to a high standard. It drives beautifully and of course is perfect for continental touring. It will be sold fully serviced with a new MOT and will come with our own 6 Month Mechanical Warranty.
