1955 MG TF (1955)

AUCTION

Report

Description

The MG TF first appeared at the 1953 Motor Show and was the ideal successor to the TD. A more refined car than the TD, it featured a sloping bonnet line and radiator, headlights grafted into the wings, sharply raked tail and individual bucket seats to replace the previous one-piece item fitted into the TD. These considerable cosmetic improvements were coupled with an updated 1,250cc power unit to provide a highly versatile sports car with the very last run of cars fitted with the highly desirable 1500cc engine producing more power and torque.

This splendid MG TF is amongst the very last of the legendary T- Series MG’s and as such has the highly desirable 1500cc engine.  Offered in right hand drive guise, it is coming directly from one of the most prestigious Milanese classic car collections. Back in 2006, this car received a comprehensive restoration including a complete bare-metal repaint to the authentic Old English White, complemented by a full re-trim in beige Connolly hide. The car received at the same time a new soft top, new side curtains while the engine has been completely overhauled. Also fitted on this car were a set of new wire wheels.

This excellent motor car represent a piece of 1950’s sporting history, the archetype of the British Roadster, ready to give the new buyer a smile while enjoying the country roads in the summer sun.

This car is going under the hammer at Coys forthcoming Auction – at Ascot Racecourse, Berkshire on Saturday 26th April 2014. Please contact the auction department for more details on 00442086147888
