PORSCHE 911 Carrera 2 (996) CABRIOLET, 6 SPEED MANUAL, LAPIS BLUE, EXTENDED LEATHER, 88k, FSH, IMMACULATE - REDUCED!!!!! (1999) SOLD
Description
This is my 911 Carrera 2 in what has to be the best colour for the 996 - I limited my search to black and lapis blue (manual), and found this after searching high and low for a low miler with the right history, which is mostly Porsche main dealer and the rest established specialists. Original price was c.£55k in 1999.
Just set up by Centre Gravity (Feb 2013) with full health check which includes dampers (running at peak performance), suspensions, brakes (drilled discs don't even have a lip, and pads approx. 5-6mm), tyres (Continental N rated all round with approx. 5 mm tread) etc as well as a 4 wheel full geometry set up by the best Porsche suspension tuner in the country. I also had new toe arm, rear ARB, front inner rod and rear drop link fitted as these were showing signs of wear - c. £600 spent. The car now drives absolutely perfectly, set up via Beissbarth geometry and full before and after road tests to my preferences and Porsche specifications. 6 page report and clear health check will go to the new owner.
Previously supplied by Paragon Porsche (i have the receipt for £28k from 2007 and the service they did on it), it's a 911 cabriolet, 6 speed manual, rear wheel drive, with matching hardtop. The 996 to have in my opinion. The soft-top roof was properly treated by me just before the hardtop went on for the winter, with professional conditioner and sealant. The soft top is in amazing condition as the car appears to have been dry stored for much of it's life. Most of the pictures show the hardtop in place, just in case you thought it wasn't a convertible.... The hardtop is easily stored away in the garage and you can just use it as a soft-top. I put the hardtop on in November as I wanted to avoid the worst of the winter and maintain the soft top's condition.
The body work is in immaculate condition, no rust at all and just a couple of stonechips on the front end which are hardly noticeable. I have also just treated and sealed the paintwork and wheels with Diamond Brite professional treatment. The wheels are original Porsche Turbo style and immaculate with no kerbing.
Spec as follows:
Electric seats
Electric mirrors
Electric windows x4
Extended leather
6 speed manual gearbox
Aircon digital climate control
Fully electric roof
Matching hardtop
6 CD changer and Porsche stereo
Auto rear spoiler with manual override
Turbo alloys (immaculate, no kerbing) and Continental tyres all round
Ruffled leather (extended) and Porsche sports seats
Multiple airbags
Porsche mat set
The engine is running perfectly, it has just had a gearbox and oil change service (October 2012), and it is using absolutely no oil at all; so no RMS issues, which generally will show up well before this mileage if they are going to happen at all. I had a full geometry set up at the same time as the service in October 2012.
Full extended leather interior, interior again is pretty much immaculate, and recently treated and conditioned, there is a little cracking of the leather on the driver's seat as it has the optional soft, ruffled leather, but overall it is excellent with the carpets, doorcards etc all good.
The mileage is genuine, backed up by a fully stamped history and documentation as well as a full, clear HPI check and MOT history.
The drilled brakes discs and pads are all good with plenty left, and the calipers (in black) literally look like they have just come out of the factory (thanks to it's pampered, dry life). It has good Continental tyres all round. Clutch all good, no slipping, gears all select perfectly and smoothly.
It drives like a 911 should, very fast, grips well and handles amazingly. I was pleasantly surprised by its snow performance too! Better than my old M5.....Pulls all the way through the rev range like it should, mechanically perfect. A proper example with none of the expensive issues some have.
Rads are all OK, I have vacuumed any leaves out when it gets washed and it has had a new rad in the past, detailed in the paperwork.
To me it is genuinely a practical supercar. I have had plenty of quick cars but none, thus far have given the sense of occasion, grip levels, deliverable power and control that the 911 does. It is fairly good on fuel, 35mpg on a run, 20+ town and traffic. Pretty practical too - I regularly have the kids in the car, rear seats are very useable.
Reason for sale is we need a 5 seater due to children, otherwise it would be a keeper.
2 sets of keys, registered to me at my home, all genuine, a fantastic 911. 4 previous owners. Bargain now for the imminent (hopefully) spring sunshine!
Any questions please ask, happy to talk about my car to anyone who is genuinely interested.
