PORSCHE 911CARRERA 3.0 TARGA (1977) £21,995
Avantgarde
- Location: tamworth, United Kingdom
Description
911 Carrera 3.0 Targa Sportomatic 1977 68,000 miles, FPSH, oak green metallic, ochre pinstripe velour interior, electric windows, fuchs wheels.
Originally registered and owned by Porsche UK as a staff car and then sold to it first private owner through AFN Porsche. In 1980 it was sold to a Lt Col who only ever used the car in the summer months, it was finally handed over to his son when he reached 80 years of age. During their tenure they entrusted all servicing and maintenence duties to renown Porsche specialist Autofarm of Oxfordshire. It has clearly been maintained regardless of cost as the invoices in the history file prove.
Introduced as a replacement for the Carrera 2.7, it was the latest incarnation of a line of range topping 911's that started with the legendary classic 2.7 RS of 1972. It's 2993cc engine used the same die cast aluminium crank-case as the new 911 Turbo. During its short two year life span, only 3687 cars were built. Of these 2564 were coupes and only 1123 produced in Targa format, and only a very small number were manufactured in RHD. This particular example is made all the more rarer for the fact it was fitted with Porche's revolutionary clutchless manual 'Sportomatic' transmission.
An amazingly original example in a timeless period colour combination.
