1980 Rolls-Royce Phantom VI-40 Limousine (1983 Delivery) (1980)

We are very pleased to present for your consideration one of the more important and fastest appreciating post-war Rolls-Royce. It is "A" rated as a classic investment car. In 1978 The Queen was presented with a mechanically updated Phantom VI for her use. Code named "Oil Barrel", Rolls-Royce decided that henceforth, beginning with the Queen's car, the Phantom VI would be updated mechanically current to the time of production. The new updated cars were designated PVI-40. These cars had newer systems throughout the car affecting everything from air conditioning to transmission. They also continued to be built only for a specific order, so each car was individual. In some years over the last decade none was ordered and in other years just a few. So each was a very rare and expensive car all hand built by coachbuilder Mulliner Park Ward. The result was a car that was extremely usable and pleasant whether owner or chauffeur driven. This particular car is rarer still because it is left hand drive, most were right hand, and it is very heavily optioned. In fact, the chassis was completed in 1980 but the car itself was not delivered to Switzerland until 1983. The Rolls Royce Enthusiast's Club has said that it was likely a head of state car as often they were sent to neutral Switzerland. The car is just gorgeous and elegant, better than the accompanying photos, with only about 7000 miles from new. It's finished in black exterior with Connolly Leather VM3234 to the front and an unbelievably elegant and soft beige Savoy Velvet to the rear compartment. There is an unusual special three compartment center burl wood console containing television, storage drawer and cocktail requisites, all lined in matching Savoy Velvet. There are matching velvet head cushions and clever velvet privacy curtains, beige on the inside and black, to match the exterior on the outside. Such detail! Even the burl wood picnic tables are bifold. There is a special over-carpet to the rear and wool footrests. Forward facing fold out occasional seats are also finished in beige Savoy Velvet trimmed in leather. A rear arm rest has storage sections provided. And the exterior side of the car has stainless that runs the entire length of the car at the bottom, providing a very elegant look against the black paint. Mechanically the car is perfect, well maintained and immaculate. Everything about the car is like new. All the normal concerns (paint, chrome, headliner, leather, etc.) are just as you would hope. Much much more than a modern Rolls-Royce Phantom now owned by BMW. If you want a real classic but more modern top of the line Rolls-Royce, this is your opportunity to own an A-Rated classic investment car that will provide you with a lifetime of enjoyment and the admiration of many to be sure! And you will likely never see another as these cars were not originally imported to the United States.
