********** PLEASE NOTE THERE SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE EMAIL LINK SO PLEASE CONTACT US DIRECTLY THROUGH OUR WEBSITEwww.paulbrowncars.co.uk OR CALL 07724527781... THANKS ************** The VVTi was introduced In 1998 by Toyota Motor Co and was an upgrade to the earlier non-VVTi engine. Quite obviously, this was an already brilliant engine to start with. Described by most as the best production turbo engine ever. The VVTIAdvantages are:- *** The ECU is much faster (TWICE) on the VVTI with a 2 x 16 bit as opposed to the 2 x8 bit on the earlier non-VVTi. Hence delivering much better economy, emissions and, most importantly, driveability. *** In conjunction with the ECU the Fly By Wire system will close the throttle if it senses detonation, high coolant temps, etc *** The VVTi system adjusts the intake cam timing. This gives significantly more low end torque, and helps the turbo's spool earlier. *** The rev limit on a stock VVTi is 7200 rpm whilst the Stock JDM is 6800 rpm. This is achieved internally by a different piston skirt design. *** The VVTi uses Mass Air Flow, The MAF is far more accurate than a speed density system. *** The VVTi uses a smaller inlet manifold. This will improve torque, *** The VVTi has a infinitely variable cam phaser using rpm, throttle position, engine load and coolant temperature inputs to determine camshaft orientation, (a system thats years ahead of its era and a further testament to what a techincal masterpiece this Supra is). *** The VVTi has no Throttle Position Sensor. With no TPS the throttle response (via the ETCS-i electronic throttle) is immediate and comes backed with huge amounts of torque. 451Nm of torque at 3600 rpm; to give you a comparison, a R32 GT-R makes 355Nm, an Audi S4 twin-turbo 400Nm, a B4 generates 320Nm and an Evo 6.5 kicks out 373Nm. So now you get the picture of how much juice the mega-supe has on tap!! (Just to put in prespective how much of an excellent engine this already was, note that - even without VVT-i - the Supra's sequential twin-turbo system enables the 2JZ to deliver a stupendous amount of torque down low. The non-VVT-i engine can crank out an incredible 380Nm at only 1300 rpm!!!) No matter what revs you've got this thing lumbering at, there's never a time when you have to drop down through the gears to find accelerative urgency - you will get maximum throttle response and a progresive snowball effect of torque from idle to the 7200 rpm redline.!! Other upgrades include *** Alloy double wishbone suspension front and rear provide balanced handling. *** REAS Suspension - Toyota's reactive absorber system. *** Three spoke Steering Wheel with airbag *** Passenger Airbag *** Revised Interior and Dashpanels *** Revised Rear lights The only way to describe how this car drives is completely amazing. This is an absolutely straight, no stories vehicle - everything is "as new". No hits, no dings, no scratches, started, driven and maintained regularly.
