Triumph Stag *SOLD SIMILAR REQUIRED* (1975) £16,995
- Location: Surrey, United Kingdom
Hard top, Moto-Lita steering wheel, Leather interior, Central locking, Wind deflector, Alloy wheels, Lockable petrol cap, Electric windows, Retrosound RC900 Radio.
This stag is in truly astonishing condition as it was in the hands of the same lady owner for the first 34 years of its life. She then sold the car to a collector in 2009 and despite remaining in excellent original condition he wanted perfection so he had the car completely stripped and repainted in the original Mimosa Yellow by Carlow Engineering, a well known Stag Specialist. The quality of the job is excellent with no obvious signs of the work or imperfections in the finish, the paint is beautifully smooth with a luscious shine. Most of the chrome was in first rate order so has been reused although a few items had light pitting so have been replaced. The attention to detail is excellent and any seal, nut, washer or clip that showed its age has been replaced. The results are breathtaking, a stunning Stag ready to show.
The current owner has had the car carefully cleaned and clear coat wax oiled on the floor pans, inside the sills, under the fuel tank and in the box sections to preserve its beautiful appearance for many years to come. The immaculate hard top is included in the sale and the soft top is in as new condition and works well.
The interior condition mirrors the exterior and has been beautifully re-trimmed in cream leather to the highest standards, the carpets were also replaced at the same time with a high quality deep pile items and a new set of over-mats have been put in to protect them. The chestnut wood is in lovely condition with no evidence of wear or fading and all the switch gear works as it should. The current owner has fitted an excellent Retrosound radio that gives the functions of a modern radio with good quality reception while retaining a nice period classic look.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The reason the original lady owner sold the car was due to an engine problem so at the time of having the car repainted the engine was completely stripped and rebuilt by Crew Engineering. A few upgrades were made to improve reliability that are documented in the history file. Since the rebuild the car has had regular annual services and fluid changes and runs like a dream with a wonderful V8 burble.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The original Stag 5 spoke alloys are in good condition and are all shod in a matching set of new tyres. The brakes have been fully refreshed and pull the car up quickly in a straight line.
The car was first registered in January 1975 and stayed with the first lady owner till 2009, it has since been in the hands of 2 car collectors. The car comes with two ring binders full of service history and photographs. There are MOT certificates that go back to the late 70's that verify the low original mileage of 80,541 and the original bill of sale is also with the car showing a purchase price of £3,561.21 in January 1975. The car even has the original sales documents, manuals and service book along with a Heritage certificate.
All of the re-commissioning work is carefully detailed in the history with invoices showing every part purchased and all of the engine rebuild work and interior re-trim. Since 2009 the car has been in light regular use so there are all the invoices showing annual service and maintenance work.
