With the golf ball in hand, the 5 speed gearbox feels smooth and precise pulling through the gears with ease.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The GTi sits on a set of original 13" alloy wheels which have all been recently refurbished including the spare wheel. As such they are in immaculate condition with no scuff or damage to report. They are shod in top quality new Goodyear Eagle tyres with plenty of tread remaining. The brake system is in excellent order having benifitted from new pads and discs, hoses and a brake fluid change.
The GTi was first registered in August 1982 and has since acquired 5 former keepers in its 30 year life. There are service invoices dating back to 1983 still present, as well as the original V.A.G document holder including the service booklet and manuals. The service book shows a total of 15 stamps, the last being at 84k miles in 1997. In 2000 the current owner purchased the car as an enthusiast, and planned to bring the car back to its former glory. Over the years he had the car stripped down, re-sprayed and partly re-assembled with various new replacement parts. Due to a change of circumstances, the owner decided it would be best to hand the car over to ourselves to complete. After many hours labour, the Golf is now in stunning order and ready for the next lucky owner to enjoy.
