Must say I'm disappointed. I've come on this forum with the best intentions, yet it seems to have degraded into 'handbags at 10 paces'.

Why can't Andrew Everard, Clare Newsome, John Duncan, Andy Clough on What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision moderate? Given that both are under the same 'Haymarket' umbrella (and this forum has limited members), and both based at Teddington, it should be doable.

Can I suggest to James or any other staff to bring down the 'Teddington Lock' on this thread? And http://www.classicandsportscar.com/forum/classic-chat/doomed-doomed-were-all-doomed?page=3#comment-4496 as the argument has spilled over into the aforementioned thread.

Thank you, pp

I think you have just repeated Chris's point. There is no moderation on here, which is why certain offensive posts were allowed to stay, and he went. There has been nothing offensive so far on this thread and now you ask for moderators who have nothing to do with this forum to intervene? Hardly likely. Unfortunately it seems any good debate does not last long before it gets diverted into a slanging match. Shame but there it is.

With respect, there only seems to be a slanging match between you and GBt. If you had spent any time on the WHFI forum, as I have since 2008, you'll know that they are strict (descretionary). Since both companies are under the same roof - I know because I've visited 'The Towers' - surely it makes sense to utilise their facilities.

I've no inclination about you or Chris Martin, nor do I have any gripe towards you two - we're all volunteers. We are not press-ganged into using this forum. If you do, please keep it civil.

Crikey, I feel like Kofi Annan.

N'uff said.

Cheers, pp

PP, thanks for the well meaning comments. I do know how most forums work, and yes if it is known that moderators will step in, most people try to keep it civil. I also know that it is hard to get anyone to take on the role of moderator, a thankless job at the best of times, it has been the downfall of other forums before, but I doubt anyone from What HiFi would want to help out here. I have not visited that site, but if as you say it is well behaved, then they are doing something right, although I doubt being owned by the same publishing group would be enough reason for them to come on here and clean it up.  As I said above, I do not have any insults to hurl at GBt, or anyone else. It seems he has the right to add his own brand of gibberish to any thread on here, but when questioned about it, he resorts to accusations of some sort of campaign against him. Raging paranoia maybe? Again, not an insult, just a question about his past behaviour. And then he accuses me of making 'snarky' comments. I do not know what 'snarky' means exactly, I have looked it up in the dictionary to no avail, but I take it in the context of his messages as meaning something derogatory. If I bother to add anything further on here, I will try my best to just ignore him, but if you want to play peacemaker maybe you can ask him to self-moderate too. A shame too as this Triumph debate was getting interesting.

Just by saying that GBt writes "gibberish", I would deem as an incitement to a response that isn't quite "cricket".

Don't really see an issue with WHFI's mods to keep their beedies on this forum: They don't have to go anywhere. It's the same building. Click of a computer and BINGO!

Clare Newsome and John Duncan no longer work for WHFI but they still moderate. There are also 'floating' or anonymous mods as well. In truth it can be done from their armchairs.

...And no, many have been banned from that forum... but with around 50,000 registered they can afford to lose a few.

BTW... thought I had from an earlier post.

"GAv, go and have a nice mug of tea. Ain't worth getting steamed up about. Afterall, you won't ever meet him. Keep this forum the way it should be... if anyone gets under your skin, by-pass the comments"  ; - )

Ok, apologies and I withdraw gibberish. To replace it with "a strange take on the use of the English language to introduce unrelated matters". As for moderators, I agree they are sorely needed here and if you have some idea that these people you named from the other forum would agree to help then by all means get them on board. As for your last comment, I doubt this forum has a hundred users and can't really afford to lose any more, but if it is all good "cricket" we shouldn't need to.

Concur about the lack of contributers on here. Also, if you look back on another thread I did request that James and other emploees should have more input. However, it seems James is, for reasons best known to him, reluctant to initiate on additional posts. Their contributions acts as a catalyst - and reassurance - when it comes responses.

Anyway, if nothing else, at least this thread has stimulated communication between members. I nicked the concept and title from this thread of mine http://www.whathifi.com/forum/hi-fi/arcam-is-rubbish. Please read all of it and see for yourself the interaction between employees and members.

Anyway, back to all things relating to Triumph.

I have some rust bubbles around the wheel arch. Can anyone recommend a good product to combat the Herald's achilles heel?
