Hello,

I am seeking the advice of a true classic car enthusiast here. Can you identify the make and model of the car in following image?

"Wrong Way" Arthur Fellig 1944

By doing so you will of course be displaying your prowess and superior car knowledge,  you will also be helping me out in a big way as I am working on a personal project on 1940's noire photographer Arthur Fellig (Aka Weegee).

Thank you kind sirs!

A bit obscure Tom 45, but I guess the car is a Packard Clipper

Thank you very much. That's great! A fine vehicle by the looks of it and apparantley it's the first car to ever have indicators as standard. I was expecting it to be a "Dodge" or something equally ironic considering the rest of the photo with the one way sign and all! Cheers!

My pleasure, especially when someone is so polite and appreciative. I found the links to the artist thereafter most interesting, so thanks for that also .

Easy enough to identify that one, but here's the full story. That photo is of a still from a movie on a hoarding at Grand Central Station in New York. The movie was called Private Hell 36 starring Ida Lupino, Steve Cochran and Dean Jagger, released in 1954 and directed by Don Siegel.

The car is indeed a 1946 Packard Clipper and note in the scene depicted where it crashes into the ravine it is driverless!

I have to admit I couldn't guess the model of the car in the picture, as much as I love old cars this was a bit too much even for myself. It looks very similar to one of the cars I've seen on a donate car site, but I doubt that one was that old.

Just reading back over a few threads here, and I wonder if this one is starting to stink a bit? Young Tom, a recent addition on here, has a similar hobby (3D animation) as GBt who has often posted such things on here. It wasn't hard to trace him back to his website. Coincidence? So one asks the question, and the other answers, both unusually complimentary about the other in light of normal forum exchanges. Good buddies? Then Swordfish comes in, had he not already been outed some time ago as another of GBt's identities? Can't say where pistonbroke or marry25 fit in here, but something smells.

Swordfish yes, a child of five could have worked that lure to catch out the sPratts, in less time than the clues given warranted. Some now so-obviously reposting under new see through guises, to sporn their snarky bile, from the safety of their laps tops and mice, the first time around,

..I hope the appreciative and well mannered 3 of recent new postings wont be put off by their rants either.

No more of concern hereby, as a bit of a time filler, as i finally found the log off 4 the good button,so dont have to read the latest inputs of self centred opinionated twaddle from the minority of Trolls.

Eh? What? Can anyone translate? It looks a bit like "The lady doth protest too much methinks". And from an Olympic standard Troll to boot!
