Regarding the removal of photos, I am surprised by the number of images which appear on this site where the poster is clearly not the copyright holder. Does the Haymarket empire have someone who removes these as a matter of course to avoid any possible litigation (I suspect not)?

I know that on other forums it is absolutely forbidden to post up someone else's work but it is quite acceptable to post a link to it; by this means we get to see many excellent shots from the past (and present) without any unpleasantness.

A common problem for the public these days. As much as my photos may be used elsewhere without me knowing, there are also those who would look up something on the internet and copy and paste the photos here.

Beware.

A few notes after reading this topic,

1, To much talk about everything and everyone  but a little sharing.

2. If you dont want that everyone in the world will have the possibility of unilimited use of your photos, don't put them online. Its a very simple rule.

3. If someone use others material on a regular basis, as with fredeom of spech,  its a very cheap way we have to know the kind of person which we are dealing.

Agreed about the spammers - a pain in the backside. They totally spoil the experience for all of us amateur classic lovers. Something needs to be done, sooner rather than later. The problem reverts to the lack of involvement by the staff: Staff participation = happy forum, hence my previous reference to WHFI and their policy.

As regards GBt - I think you're a little hard on the man. We all have our own style of writing and strange little foibles. Yes, he does go off-topic, but as a screenwriter I kinda like that. He's a well meaning person; certainly shouldn't be lampooned because of it.

The spam problem is widespread and affecting many online sites and forums, but I am told, there are ways to eliminate most, by a tougher registration process. So that is what is needed here.

Or they will drown it in their rubbish.

My remarks about GBt were not at all harsh. He is quite entertaining in his own way, either take it as read, or ignore it as undecipherable, either way it is the reader's choice, but my comment was that while we may tolerate his ramblings as GBt, we do not have to put up with the numerous other aliases that he sets up just so he has someone to talk to. And as soon as one is found out, up pops a new one. If he wants to take over completely can someone point him in the direction of a free web-hosting service where he can create his own self-serving blog.

GBt is ok, and as far as I can I will try to understand and respond to his posts, but all the others? We don't need them.

Chris M.

With the greatest respect, over the past couple of weeks (or since I returned to the forum) you've done little else but whinge. If GBt's other usernames are an irritation to you, there are formal steps... procedures.

I'd rather read the constructive input from you rather than destructive.

You, clearly, have not the slightest incling of what international copyright law is about. English obviously is not your first language so please do not give your opinion on "simple rule(s)" which copyright certainly is not.

You are absolutely right, my english is rubish.

I wish you all the best luck in the world to pursuit the ones who eventually spread your photos over the web without your authorization and catch all of them before the photos are available worlwide.

You are also  absolutely right about my lack of knowledge on copyright laws. Thats why as I outsource consulting services in this area.

As you are absolutely right about everything, for me thats enough for this subject , so let's talk about cars

I don't know why all this has kicked off again, but I think this forum has had enough of this now. GBt is an asset to this forum, and his posts are entertaining and interesting and he seems like a top bloke. If someone has a problem with him, then that's their problem, not his. The majority of people on here enjoy his posts, and all this commotion hasn't been caused by him, but about him.

I am glad to see you back, (although make sure it is covered, your back that is)sorry you had to take all that flack and backstabbing before, on my account.

It was greatly appreciated, as it is now, and just to put you in the picture, I am currently awaiting my turn on the NHS list for a Coronary Bypass, I saw the surgeon last month at Papworth and its not gonna b just a single bypass now, apparantly-so in that respect, and much said of that to you, my respect, my thanks again, Kind regards GAv
