Thanks Gav, and let's hope the waiting list isn't too long! Glad to hear you're keeping OK.

Ok folks, time to get this thread back on track. I stand by my original post and nothing posted on here since has done anything to change that. Some have tried to turn this into a personal slanging match, but I will ignore that and stick to the facts.

I think we are all agreed that something needs to be done about the spam, and as many other online forums have found ways to block it, why not here?

My remarks about GBt were not, I repeat, about him or having a go at him, as long as Gavin continues to post under that name. What is wrong here is how he can constantly reinvent new identities to post under. For what purpose? To ask and answer his own questions? Why would he do that? Or is he just hping that the weight of numbers will be enough to shout down anyone who dares to question him when he goes off topic? I neither know nor care, but just ask that he remains GBt and just be himself. What is wrong with that?

Plastic Penguin;

I was neither "hard on the man" or "lampooning" him, he does a good enough job of that himself. I was just questioning his need for all the other aliases.

ElanSprint72;

Regarding the question of copyright, Haymarket is obviously a reputable and long established publishing company and I would trust their legal advisers to know a bit more about copyright laws than any of us lay folk posting on here. If you click on the 'Terms & Conditions' link at the bottom of the page all of this is covered in detail, but for the question raised here, I refer you particularly to sections 3 and 4 regarding the obligation of the poster not to infringe any third party's copyright, and Haymarkets right to use any content submitted.

Nuno Granja;

To answer your three points;

1; I don't understand.

2; Guilty. And that was my fault for being naive and posting the photos on here. Some were used elsewhere and I subsequently removed them all. Lesson learned.

3; Wrong, see answer above regarding copyright.

To answer the remark that English is not your first langauge, maybe not, but you write better English than many English contributors on here, even your use of sarcasm is often funnier than many others.

Plastic Penguin;

I am not "whingeing", just stating facts, and if this forum wnats to get back on track these are facts that need to be dealt with. You have only been back a couple of weeks, so have I, and I would rather be posting more car related material or "constructive input" as you put it, than waste time on this type of debate, but unless this forum is cleaned up and sorted out, it will not be worth the effort if everything is to be rubbished and sabotaged by the few. As for your comment "If GBt's other usenames are an irritation to you there are formal steps...procedures", I have already followed these procedures through the necessary channels but to no avail, so my posting this on the forum as Dear James was an attempt to get this out in the open once and for all. I won't be holding my breath waiting for a satisfactory response though.

Thanks,

Chris M.

I don't know about everyone else, but I'm happy with how it is now. Sure, there can be a bit of spam from time to time, but we can and have worked around it. It would be nicer if it wasn't there, but it doesn't really bother me that much. I'm not trying to cause an argument or anything, but I really don't see what the big deal is here.

Chris, it used to annoy you when someone put a non-car-related thread in the 'Classic Chat' section. Just sayin'...

Exactly my point, thanks. If it were needed, more proof that these people have no idea what they are on about.

Bye,

What point? I'm missing it, clearly. There is no point of this weird thread.

Please could GBt or anyone else tell us the other alter egoes are of GAv? I like GBt's input, and if an individual wants to waste time filling out the necessary to produce additional names then that's their prerogative, but don't see much point in responding to a post and then finding it's the same person to the previous - or having to repeat myself.

Come on, GBt... no need to be so surreptitious.
