Le Mans Classic, anyone else travelling over on the 2nd in their classic car?
I am planning on making the trip over for this years Le Mans Classic, anyone else going down with their classic car on the 2nd July, if so which way are you crossing?...........Martin
Not Le Mans but I have noticed that for those taking cars on trailers to France and beyond - book the Ferry early. There seems to be very limited capacity out of Dover this summer and some routes are already fully booked on Saturdays in July and August.
The C&SC team and those on our Reader Run (not sure if spaces are still available, info here) will be going overnight Portsmouth-St Malo and coming back Caen-Portsmouth on the Monday daytime ferry.
I goinf from the other side
• Eisenach - 28 -29.06
• Luxemburg - 30.06
• Reims - 01.07
• Paris (Wersal) - 02-03.07
I will be nice if someone joins me
I'm not getting away until the 3rd, overnight ferry Portsmouth to Caen then back on Monday afternoon. Sounds like I'll be on the same ferry back as the C&SC Run.
What day is the C&SC Run crossing to France?
Took my '70 Merc last time but planning to use the BMW this year, as an '85 I'm not sure it's a true classic, perhaps a youngtimer.
I am going over in my 1958 Fairthorpe, probably Dover-Calais although it is a long drive down.............Martin
Needs to be confirmed but usually overnight on the Thursday (3rd) arriving St Malo Friday morning.
St Malo is a longer crossing, but you have a few hours in the bar to chat to people instead of going straight to bed and then you get woken up two hours later (so you get longer to sleep off the, er, "chatting" in the bar). It also means we go down to Le Mans and come back on slightly different routes and it's nice to have a bit of variation.
