On Line Petition to restore rolling date for VED concessions.
There is an on line petition on the Government Website calling for restoration - as the Conservatives previously promised - of a rolling date for VED concessions. This runs out on July 8th with near 20,000 signatures already. It appears that FBHVC are not advising their members to sign it. (The government said the recent " pre-1960" MOT concession was to save owners expense....better to have a rolling date with a lower rate of VED which would be more welcome.
Because there are several similar petitions out there, please provide the link to the one with the most signatures and we will publicise that here and across our social media.
Go to:- http://e-petitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/183.
Reads "Restore a rolling 30 year old exemption to VED for classic vehicles".
Signatures to date (17.6.2012) total 19,665.
Petition runs to August 5th 2012.
(Might have been helpful to have asked as an alternative for a lower rate of duty as used to exist for pre-1939 cars, which was £65. but not my petition....!)
Petition can be accessed direct. http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/183.

(There used to a reduced rate of £65 p.a. VED for pre-1939 vehicles: a lower rate as an alternative would be fairer than paying £220)
Apologies. The correct direct link to the petition is:- http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/183 (Link containing "e-petitions" does not take you direct)
