Some of the World's most Gorgeous Classics out on Show!
Who is this event aimed at? Unfortunately I can't bring myself to spend £80 to get in.
Bring back those lovely days when C&SC gave away free tickets to the Louis Vuitton at Hurlingham
I'm off to the concours tomorrow, so I will report back here and let everyone know what it was like. Naturally.
Well, that was a nice day out. There were some impressive cars, too. Just not enough people, and Champagne was £14.50 a glass. That was made worse by the fact that your "complimentary" champagne that came in the price of entry came in a much smaller glass than the ones you paid for!
On the plus side, it was an extraordinary feat to stage this event at all in that timescale – it was only launched a month ago – but that definitely showed in the (lack of) attendance.
Someone did put it to me like this: "People will whinge, but it's a nice afternoon looking at some lovely cars in a beautiful setting and it's just fun." Mind you, he hadn't paid for a ticket either!
So, certainly not a damp squib, but it has lots of growing to do.
Graeme Hurst somehow blagged his way into the evening dinner which was apparently rather good, and his show report is here.
