Spotted: classic cars on the road

924 in Luxembourg, September 2011, lovely as ever, outclassed contemporary 911s on the skidpan.
For many, the VW-Porsche 924 is a mere unloved entry level to the Stuttgart marque, but Mel Nichols (C&SC, Oct.) says:
"On the skidpan, the 911 would follow the outer circle until you got to about 59kmh. In contrast, the 924's limit was 65kmh... and it never spun".

Most desirable of all 924s. Carrera GT, Nürburgring, August 2011

Where it all began, 924 prototype. Porsche Museum

Couldn't agree more with your words Mario.
Each model of front engined Porches range is a fantastic car on his own market segment.
The first two photos are the most interesting variants of the 924 range and thank you for the photos of the prototype, I never had see that car even in photo.

Petrolhead,
All about Sciroccos,
http://website.lineone.net/%7Edr.dub/index.htm
I love the Sciroccos but my Audi Coupe is a very good car too, so I split between them. The Golf4 we buy new in 2003 is the less used car in the family, he is 60.000km now and never go further than Spain, and even there, no more than 200km from de portuguse Border, The same year we buy the Golf, we have been in Berlin with the Audi...
About new VW, they are good capable cars cars from this century. I d'ont like recreations as Beetles or Fiat 500 (the New Mini at least have the same mechanical lay-out). I prefer to be suprised, if the brand have heritage must be there in a subtle way, but in the end the petrol heads all over the world decides if a car become classico to soon or to late.

Hit the road Jack, says Alastair (C&SC, Oct.)
This is the sort of car I imagine Jack would hit the road with in a hurry

Not a good picture of the X/19, mentioned above, however the tree came out well.
Here is a nice Jag(and a TT)at the sailing club, both future classics?
and I passed a Vintage Bentley coming the other way, several MGFs and a very smart looking Lotus +2 130, all in the space of the 5 miles or 8 Kms from the sailing club to home. A wonderful summers day albeit in October.
