Technically not seen on the road but at a sailing club friends belong to and one such asked me if I wanted a sail', which I  did going nearly stir crazy,

Shortly after my arrival at the club on the River orwell, almost immediately after, gentleman arrived in this MG TF.

I asked him if he minded me taking a snap or two and he was delighted, especially as I said it would go on this forum. Not so delighted we, when I realised my camera batteries were near flat, did try and charge em but had my other duties to perform too..

The problem being the camera wont switch off by the shutter now, and some nerk (guest)on another friends boat who was supposed to place my better one in a safe place, but didnt improve on its location so it got stepped on.

Last week on going to fetch a dinghy project boat(a Minisail Minisprint) going down toward Sainsburys in Ipswich,I saw a VX490, at the front of a queue to my right, and wanting to turn left myself(not straight on as with the Vauxhall), grabbed my camera and as the flap was left  ajar so as not to flatten the 2 batteries, out popped the batteries , fumbling about to do a snap, but in danger of holding up the  traffic I pulled away in a far too high gearand accompanied by  the smell of baking clutch juddered forward, realising just why folk using mobiles are such a menace..

Anyway on the way back from a deluge neatly matching the boat pick up period too,in pouring rain  sorta steamed up before the electric screen was doing its excellent job, a Ford, hot rod pickupV8(not oot or woody)but heavily sign written,so maybe a spammer man's steed approached followed by a flatbead with a lurid green sedan V8 from the same period.

I passed an A40 Farina yeasterday I often see

with a spare battery out of a torch in tandem with one of the others managed to surprise the camera into life and get a couple of good TD shots .

Hi, I'm portuguese longtime CSC reader and a new member of this forum. I decided to came here after seing a photo of an MGB GT taken in Ireland on CSC November issue.

I´m a active member of portuguese classic  biggest car forum, the "Portal do Clássicos", and usually post there these photos of classics spotted on the road. Some of them taken at Oporto last week.

PS. sorry about my english and hope that the photos post process is correct

Hi Nuno, Your English is fine, anyway, we all speak the 'international language of Classics' here so there's no need to worry!  A very big welcome to the Classic & Sports Car forum and thank you for sharing these super photos with us. What a fabulous selection of cars and they all appear to be in top condition too, it must be a result of the fabulous weather you enjoy in Portugal. Nice to see these classics being driven everyday! Well Spotted!!

Thank for your comment V-8 Woodie,

As you said its just a selection of photos , and did not represent the average portugusese classic car, even if the weather helps a lot...

Some kind of a barn find near Lisbon, the owner is the grand father of a friend and have the habit to keep everything, he think that one day will restore this car, but probably it will never apens due to the car (very very very) poor condition...

Great shot

I remember when we went to Italy in a big Farina Wolseley 6/99,(our familiy's) circa 1960,and going up a steep hilly road, over a pass, from Santa Margherita, to Portofino, being somewhat startled by a loud air horn being sounded behind us, and a Red head in a red Spider, then zooming past our Farina saloon, glorious.

Of course Edward Fox driving the Alfa Romeo in "The Day Of The Jackal" also helped forge it as one of my favourite Italian sports cars.

A few more pics taken at Oporto. I live in Lisboa and go to Porto (300 kms) very often as I have family and business there. The black Audi Coupe close to de Mercesdes SL, is one of my daily drivers

I stop to see that Volvo for sale on road side

and this Vw Type 2 Split screen pass.

GBt, thank you for the coments and for sharing your motoring memories.

The withe Alfa photo was taken at "Guincho", a beach close to LIsbon, and famous as windsurf/kitsurf spot. Maybe the Jakcal was there trying new skills for the next mission, or maybe a read hair pin-up waiting for his boyfriend, a playboy addict to slidesports
