Spotted: classic cars on the road
Ferrari Testarossa on the road from Trebes to Lagrasse... I see it once a week or so, if you're reading this dear owner - please stop next time for me to have a ride in it, otherwise I'll hurl myself into the road :)
"He was killed by a testarossa.... " kinda cool, no?
More cars spotted at Oporto...
Outside my mecanic workshop, a famous VW aircolled specialist, my Scirocco MKII GTI and a VW Type 1 Oval (1954>195/), both getting out after routine service and mantenance...
and a Fiat X1-9
An X1-9! wow, haven't seen one of those on the road for years. Driving and taking a photo at the same time? Who says blokes can't multi-task...
The trafic is almost stoped in a tipical high way jam. Now this is no joke, my 73yo mother was on my side in that moment, and encourage me to take the pic "of that things you like"
Another X1-9 pics taken a few months ago at Sintra a touristic vilage close to Lisboa,
And a Datsun 240Z taken on the way back to Lisbon, this time I was really driving..
Too many classics on the road in The Netherlands to keep track.
But yesterday I saw a Bond Equipe, never seen one of those before in the flesh.
You're mom has a great eye for automotive design! :) and thanks for the bonus X-19 pics! I drove one of those back in ooh...1990 I think
Spotted this P6, complete with Union Flag roof in Richmond Park on Friday.
DS 21 Pallas in Alicante, May 2011
The Citroën DS must be in my Top Ten list, it was designed in 1955 and still looks so fresh
I still have memories of our family Highline Zephyr, Zodiac burning it up with Citreon Dessys, and more especially that Wolseley leaving them for dead on the straights-those weezy old Traction Avante engines were not really up to the rest of the ultra advanced spec, however coming back around the bends meant doing the business on the long straight bits again which for a young kid, was very exciting hanging onto the leather pleated straps on the backs of the front seat of that 100 MPH car., when we were lucky enough to g on the continent, thanks to Silver Airways back in the 50s/60s
Apart from a firm I used to work for finally getting their way, for permission in building a superstore in our town, the other wherein I get my divi, regularly I see various Rover P6s, and i'm sure its the same gent who used to have 2 estates who was there last week in a saloon. A bit of surreptitious detective work ie going up the road on a motorbike to have a nosey sneak look revealed not a Rover in sight, so presumably they moved from that house.
Friday,I saw a fabric bodied vintage car that may well have been an Aston Martin Ulster (or can an Austin Seven Ulster be confused when flashing past in our local stores car park, it had a winged badge anyway. I was on my Aprilia maxi scooter so was concentrating on avoiding dosey driver shoppers and after stuffing more supplies than i intended getting, under the seat and in the top box, the green beauty nestleing(parked up)got forgotten about , or maybe had left by then..
Next stop the Fish and Chip shop. This is a good vantage point, opposite, as there is a quadrangle where the market takes place twice weekly and I often see interesting cars(MG and Triumphs in convoy usually)fresh off the Harwich Ferries. Thousands of bikes decended there after the annual run from Dunton last weekend (and any bikers around can see that on UTube), in aid of the Essex Air Ambulance, led by a Porsche Cayman, what no RSs?.
Another very nice car I took some pics of last year, in the riverside store, was a Sunbeam Talbot Alpine, in cream (take the union Jacks off its flanks and it was shades of Grace Kelly and Cary Grant - we could have imagined being on the North Essex Rivierra?) , but I dont do security now, so was not out to "Catch a Thief" just snapping interesting vehicles.
Maybe we dont get the true recognition we deserve in our County and the only way truly is Essex!
X scoose me while i go get some nice Waterside shots of me Classic Essex XR3i cabriolett(now theres a thought?)
Mind you i do need a new camera first...
