Spotted: classic cars on the road
Those look ace Nuno - love the multiple beetle compostion :)
I think we'd better get back on topic on this thread though, otherwise there may be trouble ahead!
Great photoshop skills there though my friend, looks fab.
Back on topic,
Spotted at Lisbon when driving my wife's modern Golf....
Would like to see some more of your ads that feature classic cars mate, why not post them up in the other thread that GBT started? We've only had 3 contributors so far!
He says, going off topic!
Small world, GBt, may be I'll meet your cousin street shooting classics some time.
24 cylinders under one roof. Alicante, Summer 2011.
Alastair, James, what about a showdown BMW 850i - Ferrari 456, in a forthcoming issue of C&SC, wouldn't it be great?
Spotted at Oporto during the night...
And during the day...
He and his wife had been talking about bringing it over from Denmark, (they, the males are half English half Danish)so suddenly it was arranged that the Morris would be taken down to a firm in Bristol, for a full renovation. It had been under discussion for at least 5 years but as the Scandinavian equivelent of our MOT is not every year, but much more severe than ours I think, it was getting urgent.( back in the eightees I took a load of trim I got from a Morris Minor centre in East London, over to Copenhagen to do the interior but the body etc were in good shape then).
As my cousin Philips wife was going to bring it over, the idea was that I would drive my car down there to The Minor Centre in Bristol. So she had some support.
However I had a severely painfull ulcerated ankle at that time, (which I had a repeat of a couple of years later)also it was in November, so really didnt think I could cope with such a long journey and then someone would have had to look after my Mother..
Also they wanted me to drive them back into London to do a shopping trip and then to Gatwick, and with an ongoing heart condition I had to say no.
So Philips wife drove it with 2 of her Danish Thailand community friends(she is from Bankok and works at for Royal Thai Airlines incidentally and my cousin's dad was a pilot, so they are fairly international folks)
We live about 12 kilometres from Harwich, so they came over on an overnight ferry, had some lunch with us, we made them some sandwiches, then I took them up to a nearby garage to get some unleaded additive, and petrol.
The owner of the Europa happened to come in and I took a couple of pictures(later my cousin Philip complained the shot of his beloved Moggie was despoiled by that yellow blob, as he put it, well what could I say to me its t'other way round but as he was quick to remind me he is bigger than I..
Anyway The Morris made it OK to Bristol, and a few months later, Martin met Philip in Holland(Philip is based in The Hague with a shipping firm).
They picked the Morris up, all spick and span, fully restored(including a leather interior-)we went for a nice meal in a local Italian Retaurant, and first think the next day they drove it to the Ferry Port for their sea trip to Holland.
seeing them off by boat?no but seeing a Ferry from the water on The River Stour.
Canada Calling! Spotted a nice line up of British sports cars in Halton Hills, Ontario last Saturday, including this rather distinctive 1970 'XKE' Roadster owned by Peter Pontsa. Whilst the pearlescent white paint might not be to everybody's taste, it certainly stood out in the Ontario sunshine!!
Welcoming party for freshly restored red Triumph TR3 (open bonnet). Friends were driving 1963 Sabre Six, green Triumph Herald, red pre-War MG and black (or dark blue) Morris Minor van. Luxembourg, August 2011.
Nice party Mario.
