And on a similar idea, when was the last time you saw a W123 or W115 Mercedes? They used to be on every street, but are dying off fast now. But not to worry, there is still a place where they dominate; check this link;

I remember inezgane airport thirty years ago was in fact a military base that allowed commercial charters to land there and the terminal building was one tin shed, but back then the Mecedes were rare and the Taxis were mostly fifties Americans held together with rivets and wire. I rented a '56 Chev which had a Perkins diesel once, another was a '49 De Soto. Obviously Morrocco has benefitted from the growth in tourism, as has Inezgane Airport which serves the south coast area around Agadir.

More of the same at Marrakech;

Spotted at Lisbon....

Fiat 127, once very popular here, they become rare these days, but young enthusiasts start to preserve them...

3 examples in good condition... a series 2, know here as "900c"

Now... at Oporto, and via mobile phone camera, another S2, with some Abarth acessories...

...and with regular camera a S1 waiting for recovery, hope is not a big problem..

OK, this one will beat all; a Morris Major Elite. Sort of based on the Riley One-Point-Five and Wolseley 1500 shell and dressed up with fins, marketed in Austrlia only and rare now. There was a similar Austin Lancer too.

I wouldn't worry too much about the Fiasco while you are being tailgated by a driverless Elan mate !

Well I think James's original intention was to highlight the models that may once have been common, but are now rare, but here's one you will probably not have seen, and with good reason. They may be rare now, only six known survivors in the world and two of them here with the same family, but the Jewett, which was a junior member of the Paige-Detroit range in the mid-twenties was never going to be a big seller anyway.

Spotted at LIsbon

Pairs of cars, with the same colour, but with diferent status, at least here in Portugal.

One alrready on his way to an assured future as a classic (1), and the other just desapearing from streets and nobody seems to care about(2)...
