To hopefully start the ball a rolling , not a stone , this is Pink Floyd's later Guitarist Dave Gilmour's Gnat (staple to the Red Arrows, which were the yellow Arrows before, and prior to the current Hawks taking over.)

This I took at North Weald in about 1993/4ish, being fuelled up and a Post Stearman being also readied by the volunteer ground crew, for a flight mag to take some aerial shots of the RAF pilot seconded in, doing manouvres above the Essex landscape, to do the honours. It was taxied to a runway across where the drags are sometimes run and the poilot put the fear of the Lord up the bystanders, by stting off one of the diesel smoke trails, so it looked from a distance to have gone up, in smoke.priveledge to have been there that day and various other ones too.

Why? This is a common problem, I too have tried to start threads with varying degrees of interest, and occasionally some get no response, some go off topic, and if one light-hearted remark about a camper van with a kitchen sink is still to this day annoying a certain poster on here, it was worth it just for that.. You should not be deleting anything through lack of interest, leave it up there, someone may look in one day with something to add, but at least you tried. Also, lack of response is not always the same as lack of interest.

We need more people posting tales, questions, photos, ideas etc, and less who would criticise others efforts while putting nothing back in return.

Meanwhile, here's a Spitfire, a Neptune and a modern transport plane, Hercules? (could be a C135?) at the local airshow but not sure what the silver one being towed is.

Good on ya mate!

When you're in a hole..............keep digging.

If your paranoia now interprets everything I say as a dig at you, even better, let's all enjoy the rhetoric. There was one thread where you wanted to continue the argument and I have posted my replies over there, but if you want it to take over the entirre forum, go for it, let everyone know what a sad loser you are. Sad, but could be a laugh just the same.

Back to GBt's original post, I too know not much about aviation and the hardware involved, but posted a couple of photos from a local air show that may, or indeed may not, be of interest to anyone on here. I wish I could get to the Goodwood bash, and their plans to get a few Spitfires overhead would be worth seeing, but I make do with what flies around here for now. If this thread was to take off (hah! almost a joke) I could supply further info about the local H.A.R.S. museum.

Having worked at North Weald back in the '80s, followed by 20 years in the RAF I have quite a few pics I could contribute to this thread but really, is there any point?

Oh well, nothing ventured.......

As I'm about to move house most of my pics, particularly the older ones, are packed up.  I'll have to have a rummage and see if I can find the ones of the warbirds at North Weald and Stapleford airshows back in the '80s. In the meantime here's a few I have to hand;

Modern meets classic

Korean War foes reunited

Oh, one with a car!  Proprietor of local TVR dealership takes on F4J with 350i

Nothing as classy as a 911 I'm afraid, it was an Impreza which was then replaced by an Evo 8

edited to add: Just realised that the P51 in the shot with Concorde posted earlier is Big Beautiful Doll which was sadly destroyed in a mid-air collision at Duxford just a few weeks ago, thankfully without any casualties. Video here -  http://bit.ly/nCnSZV

Here's a few more from the local H.A.R.S. open day and display. That is the Historical Aircraft Restoration Society at Albion Park airport.

Some may need indentification for any plane spotters out there.

Alot of MG T-types and a what?

Hercules has landed.

Work in progress.

You can't hide a DC4 behind a Jag XK.

Another one of 'Connie'.

The Roulettes are the RAAF display team.
