Cars on telly (and in the movies)

A recurring theme in several other posts on here, referring to old memories of TV shows and films long gone indicates we may have a rich seam of nostalgia to mine for obscure car references.

Starting with that golden era of British TV (thanks to Lew Grade) we have the obvious Saint Volvo, original Roger Moore Saint that is, the seventies remake with an XJS never really took off. Danger Man had a Mini-Cooper, and when McGoohan came back as the Prisoner we had the world's most famous Lotus Seven surrounded by Mini Mokes. Martin Buckley's favourite show seems to be the Persuaders, and why not? Two classic cars, two classic actors all in a cool location, but casting and props must have had a strange lack of communication when Richard Bradford turned up in Man In A Suitcase driving a Hillman Imp !

The cars of various Avengers series are almost as well known as the Bond cars, but anyone remember The Baron in a Jensen CV8? The Professionals was standard car chase fare and apart from a few stray shots of parked cars has little more to recommend it than any episode of The Sweeney which at least had loads of Jags and early Transits.

Can anyone list all of the patrol cars featured in Z Cars? I know there were MK3 Zephyrs, but were ther MK2s before? Or...? Of course prior to that I grew up in a world where all cops drove Wolseleys (we didn't get many American cop shows back then) except for that frog Maigret.

One of the earliest US shows I liked was the Beverly Hillbillies and apart from the Clampetts old jalopy - was it maybe a Dodge under all that junk? - I just loved Mr Drysdale's Chrysler Imperial

Later American TV cars included Jim Rockford's Firebird, Cannon's Continental MKIV and the Starsky, or was it Hutch, Torino.

Any other good cars-on-TV stories?

I'll have you know that one of these was a prized posession when I was 8!

The very first Zephyrs in Z cars were indeed lowline Mk 2s, till the new  Mk3 Zephyrs came out-circa 1962, the very same week the first show was aired, or maybe it was a pilot and got repeated( no more big Consuls till the non posh Granada types) however Zephyr V6s were used after April 1966, until Softly Softly Task Force, came on stream -with most of the ZCar gang, virtually replacing ZCars, they tended to use Vauxhalls-perhaps as the series was supposedly set in a place called Wyvern?

ps Peter Falk aka Columbo passed away a short while back, so how about the Peogeot 403 Cabriolet..
