Cleverly 'product-planned' development of 'New' 100 saloon, using same floorpan/suspension/running gear, but with different engine line-up, including 1985cc five-cylinder diesel option, and smart hatchback body style, out-gunning cars like the Renault 20 with mechanical and trim options of saloon version and, like saloon, was replaced by new aerodynamic style for 1983.
