Detuned five-bearing MGB engine set across the front. Automatic available from í68; rather necessary power steering option from previous autumn. Dependable if uninteresting family saloon. Also sold as a Morris or Wolseley. Improved Mk II from 1968, and best-bet Mk III, with rod-actuated gearchange, from 1972. 1800 'S' (Mk II only) has MGB-tune engine.
