Further-enlarged and upgraded derivative of 1500/1600/1800 design, in same 100.4ins wheelbase 4-door body shell, this time with rectangular headlamps. Same 100bhp engine as 2002 (see above), plus choice of manual or ZF automatic transmission. Like all such BMWs, fitted with all-round independent suspension, and disc brakes. Directly replaced by new 520 in 1972.
