More improvement on Karmann-built shell, this time with properly re-worked 'chassis', four-wheel disc brakes and full 3-litre engine, all taken from big saloons introduced at the same time. Unchanged wheelbase and style from 2800CS, but more power and torque 180bhp on 3.0CS, and 200bhp on Bosch-injected 3.0CSi. Top speeds now well over 130mph, and many cars sold with automatic 'boxes.
