BUICK RIVIERA (1976-78)
2-door 4-seater fixed-head coupé.
This Riviera series five was caught up in GM's general down-sizing revolution. On new 116ins wheelbase and 700lbs lighter than before, but only 6ins shorter. Conventional Electra-type chassis had disc brakes all round, and a choice of standard Buick engine or optional 6.6-litre engine by Oldsmobile. Top speed down to 90mph on standard engine. Body a new edition at the 'B' body from Fisher. The last of the front-engined rear-drive dinosaurs and compared with early Rivieras a very undistinguished machine indeed.
