CHEVROLET CAMARO
4-seater sports coupé.
Amazingly successful Mustang competitor, also cloned through seventies as different-engined Pontiac Firebird, with 2 + 2 seating style but no convertibles. Unlike Nova based original, this second-generation Camaro had unique monocoque shell, with massive front subframe chassis on 108ins wheelbase. Front discs, but simple leaf spring/beam axle rear end. Z28 derivatives most desirable - about 250,000 of these produced. Depending on year, engines varied between 90 bhp 'six' to 275bhp on original Z28. Few style changes throughout, though 'safety' shovel-nose from mid-seventies. Replaced by 'Knight Rider' shape for 1982.
