CITROEN GS/GSA RANGE

4-door or 5-door 5-seater saloon/hatchback/estate.

First medium sized citroen for many years, bristling with new technology when launched. As expected front wheel drive, with smooth style, but with brand new flat-four air-cooled engine, disk brakes all round, and up-dated self-levelling hydro-pneumatic suspension similar to DS type. Like the Ds and later CX, ground clearance could be varied at will, and ride was astonishingly smooth. Under-engineered throughout its life (1.2 litres for 1973, 1.3 litres for 1979) but durable estates from 1972, hatchbacks from 1980.
