FORD CORTINA MKIV
2-door/4-door 5-seater saloon estate.
Ever more complex range of Cortinas, fourth variety being close in looks to German Taunus, which shared same basic layout and sheet metal. Same underpan, suspension and basic layout as MkIII, but squarer styling. No 2000E derivative, and Ghia badly as top option. Extra power for some with German 2.3-litre V6 engine, good for 110mph if pressed. Enormous sales success, of course, but less character than ever. Displaced by mildly restyled MkV by 1980.
