First truly 'grown-up' Honda to reach Europe, the Civic established growing up to longer-wheelbase 75bhp 1500. Conventional Supermini type, with transverse four-cylinder engine, front drive, front disc brakes, choice of manual or Hondamatic transmission, and independent rear end. Hatchbacks soon added - range, prospects and appeal all expended. CVCC (emission-conscious) units with three valves per cylinder for Japan/USA only.
