Terraplane replacement on a 112ins wheelbase, always with small, British-market 76bhp engine, and 12-bolt electrics here, though six-volt and a short-stroke 3-litre standard for other markets. Synchromesh and floor shift, although there's a column-change option in '39, along with a version of the lastest grille. Headlamps, however, stay out of doors till '40, when other improvements are column shift, coil-spring ifs, and a forward tilting bonnet. Series 40 the only 1940 US model actually marketed in Britain.
