All 8th and 9th Series tourers were of the monocoque construction, while chassis produced for coach builders were of semi-monocoque type. Still with sliding pillar ifs, it's got a larger carb and improved exhaust manifolding. The vee angle of the engine (13°40') was smaller than on the 7th Series (14°) but larger than on earlier series (13°).
