MAZDA 110S COUPE

2-seater, 2-door hardtop coupé.

Exciting and (for the day) advanced Wankel-engined soprts coupé, being Mazda's first; almost coincident launch with NSU RO80, but engine entirely different. Styling very 'Yokohama-Detroit', but stirring performance, with 110bhp at first, and 128bhp from 1969. Always de Dion back end and front discs, plus five speeds from 1969. More than 110mph top speed, but all the usual early-rotary wear problems. Nearly unknown in Britain, and now a fascinating engineering period piece.
