2-door 4-seater hardtop coupé.

Unexpectedly graceful longer-wheelbase version of SLs (see above), with permanent fixed roof, recognised by louvred rear quarter windows and close-coupled four-seater accommodation. Performance, mechanical layout and handling all as for SLs, though weight as up by 110lb. Extremely nicely detailed, and just as good for the businessman as for attending the local point-to-point. Sold well, particularly in USA, though relatively rare in UK. Also twin-cam six-cylinder 280SLC (1974-82) never sold here. Quite good value today and an interesting alternative to the 230/280CE.
