4-door 4-seater saloon/estate.
Another front-wheel drive Renault theme. 16 had engine behind transmission, 12 had engine ahead of transmission. Strangely, though, this was a conventional saloon structure, with no hatchback, but with an estate alternative. Rather anonymous style, and conventional - by Renault standards - mechanical running gear. In UK, all 12s had 1289cc, the 'TS' models with 60bhp and 90mph. 1565cc/110bhp model was Gordini, not officially sold here, while 1647cc/63bhp was '12 America', specifically for the USA. Ubiquitous, fast-selling, but not memorable compared with 16. Thank goodness for floor gear change!
