Triumph and its customers having tired of Lucas injection problems on the PI, the 2500TC was launched. Halfway in price and spec between 2000 and PI, this had the enlarged engine, but 99bhp (DIN) instead of the 2000's 84bhp, and a 105mph top speed still with 25mpg economy. Extras including overdrive and automatic. Very well equipped, pleasing controls and facia layout. No sheet metal changes from other models - the estate version, however, was not popular.
