Continued development of the TVR theme started in 1962, with multi-tube backbone frame, all-independent suspension, and stubby glass-fibre body shell. Blackpool-made, with quality improving all the time, and Ford Cortina/Capri power (86bhp) to guarantee near-110mph top speeds. Unmistakeable styling, and distinguished by rock-hard ride and nervous handling. Awkward through-cockpit access to stowage area, plus massive transmission tunnel to cut space. S3 had light-alloy wheels.
