VANDEN PLAS PRINCESS 1300

4-door 4-seater saloon.

BMC's humble 1100/1300 sumptuously refurbished by Vanden Plas in London, and with a smart grille and badging. Replaced the original VDP 1100, and had 65bhp in manual transmission guise, to give MG 1300-like performance (90mph plus). Transverse front engine/front drive, all Hydrolastic suspension and front discs, like all others in this family, which means a soft, rather roly-poly ride, but in great comfort and silence. A car to retire with, they used to say - but most people enjoyed the quiet character. The few left today uphold that reputation.
