VESPA 400
2-seater cabriolet.
Pretty little French minicar with rolltop convertible body in Fiat Topolino style, all-independent springing (swing axles at the back), hydraulic brakes, and three-speed synchro 'box (latterly four-speed, on 1960-61 'GT' model.) Slide out tray for battery in nose, 50mph and 50mpg. Marketed in the Channel Islands, but no regular imports to the mainland. As a 2CV rival it failed, being suitable only as a town car; in this limited role, however, it has some appeal. French club offers support.
