VW's light commercial with full forward control, cam and lever steering, and lower overall gearing. Mechanics otherwise stock. First of the modern-mobile-home generation, and conversions are legion. Very dependable, if tricky in its handling. The 1192cc engine arrived in '54, the 1.5-litre in '63, and for 1968 the model was restyled and given the 1.6-litre engine. Front disc brakes from 1971.
